I am thrilled that we begin our 7-week Reformation Church History Course tonight.
7 to 8:45 pm (UTC+8) in the Scots’ Church Hall, Fremantle.
Or you can Zoom in here.
Church history is an extremely interesting subject, and very important for understanding why the church is the way it is today. We can learn from the mistakes of the past, and we can “stand on the shoulders of giants”: learn good lessons from the great Christian men and women who have gone before us.
We see above all how Jesus has faithfully kept his promise: “I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:48).
This course is designed for beginners, but those who have already studied church history will also be sure to get a lot out of it.
Here are the exciting topics that we will be learning about together:
Lecture One: 6 May The Medieval Church in Darkness
Lecture Two: 13 May Martin Luther Shakes Everything
Break 20 May
Lecture Three: 27 May John Calvin the Shepherd of France
Lecture Four 3 June Henry Tudor: The God, The Bad, and the Ugly
Lecture Five 10 June The Boy King and Bloody Mary
Lecture Six 17 June Good Queen Bess and the Trumpeter of God
Lecture Seven 24 June The Amazing Story of the English Bible
Here are the notes for the whole course.
If you are not sure what this is all about, or whether you think you will find this interesting and helpful, can I urge you to come along/Zoom in tonight to see for yourself.
[The course is free of charge, though donations towards costs can be made; details are in the notes.]
Looks wonderful! I love your notes
Awesome. I’ll try to zoom in.
